Mahatma Gandhi 150th Anniversary Exhibition

The year 2019, corresponds with the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth (October 2, 1869). We all owe a great deal to Gandhi-ji, sometimes affectionately termed “Bapu”, who lead the successful non-violent campaign for the independence of India. He inspired freedom and civil rights movements in many other countries. This online art show is a tribute to him and his ideals of tolerance and non-violence and we post it as a New Year 2020 wish that  these ideals prevail in a world far too prone to  religious, ethnic and financial divisions.

The show is a collaboration between KASS and Subodh Kerkar’s Museum of Goa (MOG). We are particularly grateful to the Swaraj Art Archive (Noida, Delhi, India) for allowing us to share the works in their collection and to the Raza foundation for the permission to include works of Sayed Raza.  A PDF catalogue will be made freely available online in a short while. Besides artworks we include some writings of artists about their work and views of Gandhi.
